Scholarship Program Summary
Purpose
The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to those attending an accredited technical college, community college, university, educational course, seminar, conference or training program with an emphasis on serving our community on Kauaʻi.
The Scholarship Program falls under the jurisdiction of the Education Program and aligns with the purpose of the organization. One objective of the education program is to develop and organize fundraising and donor initiatives that will fund the Scholarship Program and ongoing educational programs.
ʻAhahui Kīwila Hawaiʻi O Moʻikeha has developed a scholarship program that will provide financial supplement to students to help eliminate the barriers to their success.
1. Mission Statement of the Organization We realize that education is the greatest equalizer, and that given fair opportunity and access to education and training, the future will be brighter for those who live on Kauaʻi. We are a Hawaiian Civic Club whose mission is to be a positive influence in our community through the preservation and perpetuation of Hawaiian cultural traditions in language, environment, history, education, music, dance, and the overall health and welfare of our people.
2. Current Vision Statement It is the vision of ʻAhahui Kīwila Hawaiʻi O Moʻikeha’s scholarship program to encourage, support and perpetuate education and training in the County of Kauaʻi. In turn we are investing in the economic future of Kauaʻi through investing in our community.
2.1. Scholarship Goal The goal of the Scholarship Program will be determined on an annual basis and funded by an annual ʻAhahui Kīwila Hawaiʻi O Moʻikeha fundraising event. Awards will be issued on an annual basis. The program was established in 2015 and the annual goal for the year was set at $2,500.
2.2. Eligibility The award should be based on criteria that is consistent with the organization’s mission.

- Be a Hawaiʻi Resident, specifically Kauaʻi
- Applicant must be a citizen of the U.S.
- Applicant must be a high school graduate or have a GED if applicable
- Demonstrate financial need
- Be enrolled full-time or part-time at an accredited 2 year or 4 year college in pursuit of a degree aligned with or in support of Hawaiian traditional values for Higher Learning
- Be a classified undergraduate or graduate student for Higher Learning
- Provide transcripts if applicable - Higher Learning
- Remain in good academic standing - Higher Learning
- School is located in Hawaiʻi and must reside in Moku: Halele’a, Koʻolau, Puna, Kona, Na Pali, Niʻihau
